This piece is a reflection of where I come from and where I grew up - Carnarvon, on Yinggarda Country. The painting represents the five Traditional Owner groups in and around the Carnarvon region, with each group depicted in separate sections that highlight their distinct areas of Country.
At the centre of the artwork flows the mighty Gascoyne River, symbolising its deep cultural and spiritual significance to Yinggarda people. Its presence connects the different groups, grounding the piece in the shared history, stories, and essence of the region.
